Avoid Disney this month

(here's why)

From Valentine's Day:

Our (not so) Secrets for a happy, healthy relationship!

From January:

With Christina graduating High School this year her next stop is the world, no longer sheltered by Mom and Dad so much, so we've decided that this year's theme will be:  Opening our eyes to the world.  This will involve an emphasis on what young adults (like Christina) will need to do, to achieve success in the world as they begin to strike out on their own.

Finally, please take a moment this week to thank God for all His good gifts.  Please thank and pray for our service men and women who protect us from harm.

For Memorial Day:

Thank you troops for keeping us safe since 9-11.

If you think that perhaps you are not as blessed as others take a look here and here, and then think about your own situation once more . . . .

About 2007 . . .

In 2007we explored Eastern Europe and had the opportunity to reconnect with family roots.  The Y2K Family went to Eastern Europe this year and met with relatives in Austria and the Slovak Republic (above) as they took a 9 country tour there.

This year's trip was themed "Explorations to Eastern Europe".  We traveled to the 'old country' of the Slovak Republic and many other countries of Eastern Europe to experience their cultures and see for ourselves the lands of our ancestors.

Here's How You and Your Family can be Hometown Heroes:

Families helping families.  That what we're all about and that's what America does best!

WE know that the character of America is at its best when faced with calamities.  We need your help with the flood victims in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.  What can you do?  Plenty, and you don't have to leave home to do it.  Here are 3 things you and your family can do to help:

1.  Pray.  Pray for the people who are the victims of Hurricane Katrina and for the rescue and recovery efforts.

2.  Donate.  You can donate money to the American Red Cross so that they can but food and water, you can also donate your time to the American Red Cross by helping them to man telephones and help organize relief supplies in your area locally.  You can offer your money or time either through their website (click here), or by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW.

3. Encourage other families in your area to donate, time, food, money to either the American Red Cross or a local church-based charity dedicated to the relief effort.

4.  Continue your normal activities as well as you can.  It is important to keep the national and local economy moving as normally as possible. You can help by keeping up your normal routine and supporting your local businesses.  Then need to keep their people employed as well.

Our Summer vacation 2006- Visiting Australia!  The land down under!  No theme to this year's trip other than the family has never been to . . .

  • past the International Date Line
  • South of the Equator and

Honoring Those who Serve
Please remember the cost of your freedom.  Over 1000 service men and women have died to keep terrorists off our shores and bottled up in Iraq.  Honor those who died to keep Terrorism, Fascism and Communism off our shores, and those who continue that work today.  Please also consider a donation to a charity or service that supports our troops, especially those supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Click here for some good ideas on how to make this a family project.
