Vacations are a great way to spend time together as a family. We do it once or
twice a year and generally for 10 days to 2 weeks. Vacations allow us to unwind and to rebuild family relationships that
have become strained either by work, school, or the pace of life in the 21st century.
We like themed vacations- they tie together places to go and things to do around
an overall concept (with of course some 'exceptions' along they way).
Consider taking a Millennial Themed Vacation to Celebrate
the 3rd Millennium!
Hey, why not? How many millenniums will you be able to celebrate anyway?
What better way to spend the first few years of the 21st century and the
beginning of the 3rd millennium
than on a millennially-themed family vacation? We did on like that in the
year 2000 and it was a blast! The great thing is that you still can do it today
and not feel silly about doing it.
Other Themes
If you'd like to consider other vacation themes, we've got ideas for you to
consider. Just click on the year from the list below and you'll see how we
handled it so far:
Here are some theme ideas to consider:
- 2000 (The theme of Time).
- 2001 (The theme of High Tech and the Future).
- 2002 (The 'Down to Earth' theme of animals and
nature).
- 2003 (The theme of The Culture of
Britain)
What we're doing in 2004!
2000: (Theme:
Time)
In 2000, to celebrate the new millennium, and as the Official Family of the New
Millennium, we took in all the 'Millennial' sites
that we could to herald it in. We did the UK in the theme of time.
Click here to learn more about what we saw and did.
We visited London, England and see where time begins! (as well as other sites around the UK!). The UK is full of time
related places to see.
This
company still has great Millennium themed information for various places and events in the
UK!
While there, we also be visited Greenwich, the Royal Observatory and
the Prime Meridian (the point of 0 degrees longitude on all our maps!).

Here's a picture of the Millennium Dome (recently closed) LIVE.
And don't forget Stonehenge, where time's been kept for over 10,000
years using the oldest known calendar in the world.
2001: (Theme:
High Tech)
In 2001, we decided to stay closed to home and we went High Tech
to celebrate the future! Click here to learn
more about what we saw and did!
Our first stop was Las Vegas! Not for the gambling, but for all the
High Tech attractions that abound. But because we're a family we're also constrained
by School vacations, and money . . . so here's what we did!
The Star Trek Experience-
If you're into High Tech and the future, This is the place!
Freemont Street -
with its $70 million light canopy and 540,000-watt sound system. It's located 90 feet above
Fremont Street. The canopy is made up of 2.1 million lights, including 180 strobes
and 40 robotic mirrors.
Luxor- Home of the hottest motion
simulator ride around where riders follow an expedition crew in its race against the evil
Dr. Osiris for the coveted crystal obelisk. Also at Luxor- the BLUE MAN GROUP,
mixing high music with high tech performances.
- There are also many other things to for FREE (and we're into free
let me tell you . . .)
2002: (Theme:
Animals and Nature)
Our vacation in 2002
had a special emphasis on wildlife and the
environment. Click here for more details on
what we saw and did.
2003: (Theme:
The Culture of Britain)
Our Holiday travels took us back to the UK (via
Canada and France). We spent more time in London, northern and western
England this time. John did all the vacation planning over the internet
and we all had a great time. Please click here
to learn more about what we saw and did!
2004:
We're still in the planning stages but we're
eying either Italy or China as our next big holiday break.
We'll keep you all informed as we develop our plans.
